The Art of Jazz and Improvisation. This ongoing weekly course offers a path for pre-teens age 9 to 12, to enter the world of Jazz and improvisation. In a welcoming, safe, highly professional and non-judgmental environment, students will be encouraged to play and improvise. Various devises such as scales, modes and chord progressions will be demonstrated and a wide and in depth selection of exercises will be introduced with the sole purpose to develop a strong foundation in the language of improvisation. Tunes will include the Blues formats, Rhythm Changes, Jazz Standards and Through Composed forms.

All materials are in tune with admission requirements as stated by LaGuardia Community College, the Frank Sinatra Highschool, Aaron Copland School of Music /Queens College and similar programs. Our educators are associated with universities and conservatories such as The New School, Manhattan School of Music, Julliard, Queens College and William Patterson.
