Weekly Workshops

Weekly Workshops: 2-Hour Weekly Workshops for Juniors and Teens
These weekly workshops are two hours long and the billing cycle is by trimester or every four weeks. The cost for four 2-hours long sessions is $210, plus a one-time membership fee of $45. (See trimester pricing options above)

Discounts
For students regularly enrolled in multiple workshops, we offer a 25% discount on each workshop after the first.

Registration
Filling out the registration form on our site is a prerequisite to participate in any of our classes. Filling out the form is without commitment.

Admissions
Upon receipt of a registration, a member of the New York Jazz Workshop will contact you; if space is available in the workshop of your choice, and you are the right fit for that particular workshop, you will be sent an invoice.

Payments
Classes are to be paid one week prior to the beginning of each billing cycle. Our preferred method of payment is electronic; upon receipt of your invoice, click on the payment link to pay with your debit/credit card. If you would like to mail a check, please write it to:

If you pay by check please send it at least 10 days prior to the beginning of your classes.

Absences
Due to our fixed rental and teacher costs, as well as what’s best for academic results. When enrolled in a 4-week package, students are allowed to miss a maximum of one class every two 4-week billing cycle without being charged. Classes missed in addition to the allotted quantity, will be lost. For the trimester enrollment package, absences are calculated/factored into the cost and no additional make-up sessions are allotted. Long term students can ask to be placed on hold for personal reasons such as vacations, work, family, etc. for up to three weeks without losing their spot. At our personal discretion, the New York Jazz Workshop reserves the right to grant or refuse such requests.

Refunds
If you are unhappy with your workshop during your first two sessions, you can obtain a refund of the unutilized classes. The registration fee is not refundable.

Holidays/Class Cancellations
You will not be responsible for paying for skipped sessions due to holidays as defined by NYJW. Please check our calendar for holidays listed. The trimester enrollment tuition won’t change based on classes you may miss due to personal matters or acts of god (such as snowstorms).

Observing/Auditing a class
It is possible to observe/audit a class prior to joining for a fee of $15. While auditing, participation in the workshop is limited.

 

Teen Jazz Day Camp

The summer workshops are intensive courses held over the course of four or five consecutive days in the summer. Fees range from $585 to $745 depending on the duration of the workshop and the date of the registration. (early registrants have access to a lower fee) To participate in the summer workshop, student are required to fill out the registration form and reserve their participation well ahead of time. We might require an audition tape.

Discounts
We offer a $50 discount for student taking two or more summer workshops in the same year.

Payments
Summer workshop need to be paid in full 30 days prior to the beginning of the workshop. Our preferred method of payment is electronic; upon receipt of your invoice, click on the payment link to pay with your debit/credit card or PayPal account. If you would like to make a wire transfer contact the administrative office for our bank coordinates.

Absences
Unscheduled absences in our summer workshop will not allow you to catch up or entitle you to any refund. However if you know prior to reserving your spot that you will miss the first or the last day of the workshop we can in certain instances prorate the cost of the workshop.

Changes/ Withdrawal
Due to the sporadic and highly selective nature of the summer workshops changing workshop once the workshop has begun is not possible.

Refunds
The summer workshops are not refundable

 

Private lessons

Private lessons fees range from $56 per hour to $100 and up. Rates change widely depending on the teacher of choice and the location of the lesson. Please see the private lesson section for detailed information.

Reservations
Students need to book the lessons at least one week in advance and pay for the lessons not later than 48 hours prior to the lesson. Student will be held financially responsible for non-show and will be billed the studio fee (if applicable) and the teacher fee. Cancellations need to be received by the teacher and the school no later than 24 hours in advance.

Registration
Filling out the registration form on our site is a prerequisite to study privately with the teacher of the New York Jazz Workshop. Filling out the form is without commitment. You have no obligations until you are assigned a teacher and a lesson is scheduled.

Admissions
Upon receipt of a registration a member of the New York Jazz Workshop will contact you, you will be offered a selection of teachers and rate, if you decide to proceed you will be put in touch directly with the teacher for scheduling purposes.

Payments
Invoices for the lessons will be sent by the school and scheduled classes need to be paid no less than 48 hours prior to the lesson. Our preferred method of payment is electronic, upon receipt of your invoice click on the payment link to pay with your debit/credit card or PayPal account. If you would like to mail a check you need to mail your check no later than 7 days prior to the lesson date. Checks can be mailed to:

Scheduling lessons
Please schedule the lessons with your teacher via email and copy the school [email protected] in the email to your teacher. This allows us to send you an invoice and to pay the teachers in time.

Re-scheduling / No-Show
Rescheduling a lesson needs to be requested by the student no less than 48 hours prior to the lesson. Please re-schedule the lessons with your teacher via phone or email and copy the school, [email protected], on your request. This is to give the teacher enough time to book another student and/or change the studio reservation. In particular circumstances teachers will allow rescheduling up to 24 hours prior to the lesson. If you fail to re-schedule your lesson in time and/ or do not show up for a scheduled lesson, you will be responsible for the cost of the lesson and the studio fee( if applicable).
